What an online consultation can and cannot do
It can: take a detailed neurological history, observe many signs on video (speech, facial movement, tremor, gait), review your scans and reports, adjust medicines for migraine, epilepsy or Parkinson's disease, and plan further tests.
It cannot: replace a full hands-on neurological examination when one is needed, or treat an acute stroke or a continuous seizure – those need a hospital immediately.
How to prepare
- MRI or CT brain/spine reports (and images if available), EEG and nerve conduction reports
- A headache or seizure diary: dates, duration, triggers and what helped
- A list or photos of all current medicines with doses
- For a seizure or tremor, a short phone video of an episode can help the doctor a lot
Second opinions and patients outside India
Many families use VRA Health for a second opinion before a major decision, or to consult a neurologist they trust from abroad. You can share reports, scans and discharge summaries before the call, and the doctor will go through them with you in plain language. Slot times are shown in your local time zone. Medicines prescribed by a doctor in India may need a prescription from a local doctor before a pharmacy outside India will dispense them.
When to go to a hospital instead
Online consultations are not for emergencies. Stroke signs need emergency care: sudden weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg, slurred speech, sudden loss of vision, or severe imbalance. Also go to a hospital for a fit lasting more than 5 minutes, repeated fits without waking up, the worst headache of your life, or a headache with fever and neck stiffness. In India call 108 (ambulance) or go to the nearest hospital; abroad, call your local emergency number.
