Online pediatric pulmonologist consultation

Pediatric pulmonology is the specialty for children's lungs and breathing. At VRA Health you can consult a child lung specialist online for a cough that keeps coming back, wheezing and asthma, noisy breathing in infants, recurrent pneumonia, tuberculosis, snoring, or chest X-ray and CT reports you want explained – from home, without travelling with a sick child.

Our pediatric pulmonologists

Two of our specialists hold a DM in Pediatric Pulmonology, a super-specialty that very few doctors in India have:

  • Dr. Anvesh Reddy G – DM Pediatric Pulmonology, PGIMER Chandigarh – chronic cough, airway disorders, noisy breathing, TB
  • Dr. Kiran Kumar Banothu – DM Pediatric Pulmonology & PICU, AIIMS New Delhi – pneumonia, asthma, TB, cystic fibrosis, intensive care
  • Dr. Neeraj Verma – MD Pediatrics, PGIMER Chandigarh

Conditions we help with

  • Recurrent or chronic cough in children
  • Wheezing, asthma and inhaler or spacer technique
  • Noisy breathing (stridor) and floppy airway in infants
  • Recurrent pneumonia or chest infections
  • Tuberculosis in children and its follow-up
  • Snoring, mouth breathing and sleep apnoea
  • Cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis
  • Breathing problems in babies born preterm
  • Chest X-ray, CT and lung function reports

What an online consultation can and cannot do

It can: take a detailed history from you, watch your child breathe and cough on video, check inhaler and spacer technique, review reports, adjust medicines and plan tests.

It cannot: listen to the chest with a stethoscope or treat a child who is struggling to breathe right now – that needs a hospital immediately.

How to prepare

  • Chest X-ray, CT, blood and TB test reports, and discharge summaries
  • A short phone video of the cough, wheeze or noisy breathing (very useful)
  • Your child's weight, and a list or photos of current medicines and inhalers
  • Oxygen saturation readings if you have a pulse oximeter at home

Second opinions and patients outside India

Many families use VRA Health for a second opinion before a major decision, or to consult a pediatric pulmonologist they trust from abroad. You can share reports, scans and discharge summaries before the call, and the doctor will go through them with you in plain language. Slot times are shown in your local time zone. Medicines prescribed by a doctor in India may need a prescription from a local doctor before a pharmacy outside India will dispense them.

When to go to a hospital instead

Online consultations are not for emergencies. Go to a hospital at once if your child is breathing very fast or with effort (ribs pulling in), has blue lips, cannot speak or feed because of breathlessness, is unusually drowsy, or has an oxygen level below 92%. In India call 108 (ambulance) or go to the nearest hospital; abroad, call your local emergency number.

How booking works

  1. Choose a doctor below and pick a slot. Slot times are shown in your own time zone.
  2. The doctor confirms the request, and you pay securely online. The fee is shown on the doctor's profile before you book; patients outside India see it in their own currency.
  3. Join the video call at the booked time from the VRA Health app or your browser.
  4. Download your digital prescription and advice after the consultation.

You can also book on WhatsApp: send "Hi" and follow the steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a pediatric pulmonologist treat?

A pediatric pulmonologist treats lung and breathing problems in children: chronic cough, asthma, noisy breathing in infants, recurrent pneumonia, tuberculosis, sleep apnoea, cystic fibrosis and more.

My child coughs every month. Should I see a lung specialist?

Yes, if the cough keeps returning, lasts more than 4 weeks, comes with wheezing, or disturbs sleep. A pediatric pulmonologist can find the cause and plan treatment.

Can a child's breathing problem be assessed online?

Many can. The doctor watches your child breathe and cough on video, reviews reports and checks inhaler technique. A short phone video of the symptoms helps. If a hands-on examination is needed, the doctor will say so.

Are your specialists DM qualified in pediatric pulmonology?

Yes. Two of our doctors hold a DM in Pediatric Pulmonology, from PGIMER Chandigarh and AIIMS New Delhi.

Can I consult from outside India?

Yes. Slot times are shown in your local time zone and the fee in your currency. Medicines prescribed by a doctor in India may need a local prescription before a pharmacy abroad will dispense them.

When should I take my child to a hospital?

Go immediately if your child is breathing very fast or with effort, has blue lips, cannot feed or speak because of breathlessness, is unusually drowsy, or has an oxygen level below 92%.
