Online general surgeon consultation
General surgeons treat problems such as hernias, gallstones, appendicitis, piles and fissures, lumps, thyroid swellings and breast lumps. At VRA Health you can consult a surgeon online to find out whether you need surgery, what kind, and how urgent it is – before you commit to a hospital.
A video consultation is well suited to reviewing scans, understanding your options, getting a second opinion on advised surgery, and follow-up after an operation.

What an online consultation can and cannot do
It can: review your symptoms, photos and scan reports, tell you whether surgery is needed and how urgently, explain the options and risks, give a second opinion, and guide wound care and recovery.
It cannot: examine a lump or your abdomen by touch, perform any procedure, or manage a surgical emergency.
How to prepare
- Ultrasound, CT or other scan reports (and images if available)
- Clear photos of any lump, swelling or wound in good light
- Previous operation notes or discharge summaries
- A list of your medicines, especially blood thinners and diabetes medicines
Second opinions and patients outside India
Many families use VRA Health for a second opinion before a major decision, or to consult a surgeon they trust from abroad. You can share reports, scans and discharge summaries before the call, and the doctor will go through them with you in plain language. A second opinion is especially useful when you have been advised an operation. Medicines prescribed by a doctor in India may need a prescription from a local doctor before a pharmacy outside India will dispense them.
When to go to a hospital instead
Online consultations are not for emergencies. Go to a hospital at once for severe abdominal pain, abdominal pain with repeated vomiting and no stools or gas, a hernia that becomes painful, hard and cannot be pushed back, vomiting blood, black stools, or a wound with spreading redness and fever. In India call 108 (ambulance) or go to the nearest hospital; abroad, call your local emergency number.
